We’re in a constant state of ‘No’ – “No, I can’t afford it.” “No, I don’t have time.” “No, I’m not smart enough.” “No, I’m not allowed to.” “No, I need to lose weight first.” “No, it it’s all too hard!” “No, Yoga is for flexible people!”
And why is it too hard? Because we’re so busy telling ourselves “No, I can’t”!
And that daily refusal to allow ourselves to live easily is reflected in the body – painful shoulders, stiff neck, sore back, creaky knees, inflexible hips, tight hamstrings, tender elbows, aching joints.
For over 5000 years Yoga has helped people move and function with freedom, and not just physical freedom. Now, Yoga is available to you, here, in Baulkham Hills, the Hills District.

“In the West we are taught from an early age that what we do and what we own are the sole components for measuring whether we are ‘successful’. We measure our success and the success of others through this limited vantage point, judging and dismissing anything that falls outside these narrow parameters. What yoga teaches us is that who we are and how we are, constitute the ultimate proof of a life lived in freedom.”

So, although a consistent practice of Yoga will help:
Yoga also provides the means to find happiness in everything we do.
The style of yoga I teach here, in the Baulkham Hills Studio, and the yoga I practice most frequently, is called Hatha Vinyasa Yoga.
Hatha means balance: Ha is sun, tha is moon. In order to achieve balance (a very important aspect of Yoga), there must be equal parts black and white, yin and yang, female and male.
Vinyasa means ‘flow’ or ‘breath synchronized movement, with intention’. In this yoga style, the breath moves the body from one pose to another with intention, so that no movement or breath is rendered devoid of worth. An intention can be as simple as focusing on how you move your feet in your yoga practice or as all encompassing as devoting that day’s yoga practice to sharing your happiness with everyone!
“Yoga practices such as asana (physical postures) enable us to feel that there’s something animating our physical form. Yoga practices such as meditation enable us to watch our minds think, to realize that we must be more than the mind, if we can sit back and watch it generate thoughts. This is the power of these practices; they show, rather than tell us who we really are.”
Jivamukti Yoga, Sharon Gannon and David Life

Pure vinyasa yoga is more suited to the intermediate to advanced yoga practitioner. Vinyasa style however, is suited to beginners, intermediate and advanced, depending on the asana incorporated into the class.
All yoga classes work with breath (pranayama), postures (asana), relaxation and meditation, in varying degrees.
A mixed level yoga class that includes gentler asana variations as well as pranayama, relaxation and meditation.
For those who have never done yoga or who have not been practicing yoga for some time. An introduction to the asana, pranayama, relaxation and mediation that are the basics of yoga.
